그래서 service pack 3 를 다운해서 실행하니, '올바른 win32 응용프로그램이 아닙니다'라는 메세지만 뜨고 실행이 안됨. --;;
그래서 windows update 사이트에 가서 업데이트 하려고 해보니, 자꾸 제자리만 맴돌고 업데이트 설치가 안되는거죠.
이것저것 검색해서 찾아보다보니 다음의 페이지가 검색되었습니다. (구글 땡큐)

ome have reported that simply re-registering the MSXML3.DLL seems to fix the problem.
1. Click Start.
2. Choose Run.
3. In the Run box, type: regsvr32 MSXML3.DLL
Press okay
1. Click Start.
2. Choose Run.
3. In the Run box, type: regsvr32 MSXML3.DLL
Press okay
If that hasn't helped you may need to re-registered some more files:

잘은 모르겠지만, 동적파일 중 하나가 엉켜서 그랬던 것 같습니다.
업데이트는 주기적으로 합시다.

2. Choose Run.
3. In the Run box, type (pressing okay after each one) :-
